It took only about an hour into the start of training camp for rookie Dez Bryant to make an impression on Cowboys fans.

While the Dallas players took part in a 90-minute practice on the field at Cowboys Stadium, approximately 2,000 fans paid for the privilege to split time taking a tour of the stadium while watching the practice – both down on the field and up on the …
Is Dallas WR Roy Williams ready to show return on the investment Jerry Jones made when he traded for him in 2008? If the Cowboys’ OTA session on Monday is any indication, then maybe so.
In addition to the stigma of being stripped of his 2009 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award in the wake of a four-game suspension for using a banned substance, there is another issue for Texans LB Brian Cushing: How does this affect his wallet?

The first guy to be drafted this year who was not at the combine was Tennessee G Jacques McClendon, taken 129th overall by the Colts in the fourth round.
Arkansas State DE Alex Carrington possibly sealed his fate at the school’s pro day, as eight NFL teams showed up to watch five players work out outdoors on FieldTurf.

On Sunday morning, Texas Stadium will be imploded. You can watch this live on NFL Network (8 a.m. ET). Personally, I will not be watching. I can’t bring myself to watch a place that was so special to me be destroyed.
Quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw for 45 minutes Friday in a scripted workout in front of representatives from 16 NFL teams. While he did not run the 40-yard dash, observers said Clausen appeared able to push off of his surgically repaired toe and drive the ball well on his throws.
South Carolina had seven players work out at the school’s pro day on March 31. Twenty-eight NFL teams showed up to witness the workout outdoors on grass.
In the case of someone like South Florida DE Jason Pierre-Paul, who has played just one season in a major college program, a pro day workout such as the one he attended at South Florida on March 30 becomes even more important.
Florida’s Jermaine Cunningham, who missed the combine and the Gators’ pro day due to a shoulder injury, worked out for scouts at the school’s practice field on April 7.
New Mexico State’s Marcus Anderson (5-9, 173) may not be the biggest player in draft, but he put on a serious show of strength at New Mexico State’s pro day on March 29.

The Falcons are showing some significant interest in a pair of standouts from Los Angeles. Atlanta GM Thomas Dimitroff, head coach Mike Smith, defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder and defensive line coach Ray Hamilton will work out UCLA DT Brian Price and USC DE Everson Griffen on Saturday morning.
Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen will finally work out for teams this Friday (April 9) at 11:30 on campus in South Bend, Ind. Clausen has been recovering from toe surgery, and his personal pro day will be the first time talent evaluators will get to see him pass.
There may have been 15 South Carolina State prospects at the school’s pro day workout on March 31, but the scouts on hand from 15 NFL teams were all there to see Phillip Adams.
Free safety Quentin Scott impressed scouts from eight teams at Northern Iowa’s pro day on March 31st. Scott (6-3 7/8, 224) worked out as both a defensive back and a wide receiver and put together a really good workout.
Sometimes, if the scouts aren’t willing to come to your pro day, you have to bring the pro day to the scouts. That’s exactly what nine athletes from Western Illinois University did on March 23, when they traveled about 175 miles east to the campus of Northwestern University to work out indoors on FieldTurf for talent evaluators from 20 teams.
A.J. Jackson, a wide receiver from The California University of Pennsylvania, stole the show at the University of Pennsylvania’s pro day on March 31st. Jackson (6-1 1/4
236) did a good job in drills catching passes from a San Francisco 49ers scout and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 against the wind and 4.68 with the wind, had a 35-inch vertical leap, 10-foot broad jump, 4.33-second short shuttle, 7.11 three-cone drill and completed 17 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds.
Oklahoma State CB Perrish Cox held a private workout for NFL scouts on March 30 in Waco, Texas, at Waco High School.
There was a time when SMU produced NFL talent with regularity. While that has waned in recent years, it appears the NFL is taking a closer look again fresh off the university’s first bowl game in 25 years.
Kansas State TE Jeron Mastrud (6-foot-5 1/4, 253 pounds) is recovered from the right foot surgery that kept him from working out at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he isn’t quite ready to run the 40-yard dash.
A pair of Pirates defensive linemen are quickly moving up draft boards. The best indication of defensive tackles Linval Joseph and Jay Ross‘ rising stature may be that 10 defensive line coaches were among the 31 team representatives in attendance at East Carolina’s pro day on March 25.
Northwestern QB Mike Kafka’s impressive offseason continued at the school’s pro day.
There are many ways for a prospect to stand out during pro day workout – put up big numbers, forget your cleats, etc. WR Terrence Austin of UCLA chose a different route, as he had a large contingent of friends and family in attendance, all wearing his jersey and making quite a bit of noise.
Befitting the Trojans’ blue blood status in college football, a whopping 13 noteworthy players worked out. In total, 21 players particpated. Despite the presence of so many talented prospects, however, it was one slightly lesser known guy (Kevin Thomas) that really used the workout to catapult himself, according to my sources.
It happens way too often, and it’s disappointing every time it does. The most common culprit is the hamstring. Well, North Carolina CB Jordan Hemby (5-foot-10 7/8, 190 pounds) is the latest victim. He pulled his hamstring running the short shuttle, and the minor injury prevented him from doing the three-cone drill.
It may be time to start paying some more attention to N.C. State C Ted Larsen (6-foot-2 5/8, 306 pounds). NFL teams are certainly doing so.
Indiana State athletics are known for one name — Larry Bird. Since he graduated the school, it has failed to re-enter the national conscience. The football program, in particular, has been an afterthought. The last Sycamore drafted was seventh-rounder Dan Brandenburg by the Bills in 1996. DB Donye McCleskey might be the man to change that
Central Florida’s best prospect, DT Torell Troup, didn’t actually work out at the school’s pro day on March 25, but don’t be alarmed. The 6-foot-2, 315-pounder is making the rounds. He is visiting with the Lions on Thursday, has a visit scheduled with the Vikings next week, and has already worekd out for the Patriots, Chiefs, Browns, Broncos and Saints.
When position coaches are dispatched to a pro day, it typically signifies a definite interest in a particular prospect. Remember that when it comes to Connecticut WR Marcus Easley (6-foot-2 3/4, 211 pounds). Included among the 20 team representatives on hand at UCon”s pro day were the receivers coaches from the Jets and Ravens.
Not all pro days are created equal. At Rice, Texas Southern and Northern Illinois, for example, there was an absence of elite level prospects. Despite the lack of top-notch players, however, the participants deserve credit for giving their all in an attempt to make the pros.
Rutgers OT Anthony Davis, a projected first-round draft pick who didn’t work out at his school’s pro day last month, held a private workout for 11 NFL teams Tuesday.
Three Duke players who were not at the combine — DB Leon Wright, LB Vincent Rey and DE Ayanga Okpokowuruk – helped their chances of catching on with an NFL team at the team’s pro day.
G Charlie Tanner posted a 36-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot, 3-inch broad jump and a 4.38-second short shuttle at Texas’ pro day Wednesday — all numbers that would have put him in the top-10 amongst offensive linemen at the combine.
Colt McCoy earned some high praise from Ravens offensive consultant Al Saunders at Texas’ pro day Wednesday. Saunders, one of the architects of St. Louis’ “The Greatest Show on Turf” in the late ’90s, said McCoy reminded him of Peyton Manning in terms of his preparation.
Colt McCoy might not have the strong arm that Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford displayed earlier in the week, but that shouldn’t detract from a fine performance in front of scouts from 30 NFL teams (the Lions and Rams were the only teams not in attendance).
Earl Thomas already was in good standing with NFL scouts after an impressive combine performance last month. But the safety outdid himself — and every other prospect Texas had on display — at the school’s pro day Wednesday before suffering a setback.
Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant is still going through position drills at his private workout for NFL teams, but he did run times of 4.52, 4.68 and 4.52 in the 40-yard dash.
We’re finally going to get answers to most of the Dez Bryant questions we’ve had for so long. The Oklahoma State wide receiver is working out for teams today at Lufkin High School in East Texas, where football is king.
Sam Bradford’s workout Monday in front of representatives for all 32 NFL teams at Oklahoma’s pro day almost left me speechless. And that’s saying something.
Sam Bradford just finished his workout, and let me tell you, it was near flawless. I’m not saying he solidified his spot at the top of the draft, but he sure didn’t hurt himself. It was one of the best individual workouts I’ve seen in a long time. A real Picasso.
